Kasparovchess
An online chess platform built for competitive play
Overview
Kasparovchess was built from scratch for competitive and professional chess players, with a focus on responsive gameplay and a smooth playing experience.
The challenge
Online chess needs accurate game logic, fast communication between players, and ways to detect cheating. Small delays can make a big difference to a game.
The approach
A web application with live games between players, puzzles, Chess960, and safeguards against cheating.
My part in the project
I designed the web architecture and built live play between players, with a working demo in the first 30 days. I also developed puzzle solving and play against the computer, added Chess960, and led work on anti-cheat measures with advice from grandmasters.
What changed
Our small team built a platform tested with Garry Kasparov, Peter Svidler, and other leading players.
Where it is now
The platform launched and was tested with leading players. After the initial development period, the work shifted to maintenance.
